    2012-01-31: In the city of Espoo in southern Finland, a new sustainable urban living concept is under development to provide energy efficient homes. The construction company Skanska is building an apartment block with the help of ABB, Fortum and Kone, which will be completed later this year.

  • ABB helps the world’s newest copper mine take off

    2012-01-23: ABB has supplied a vast array of power and automation solutions for Antofagasta’s new flagship Esperanza copper mine in Chile. The solutions include three of the world’s largest gearless mill drives, process and electrical control systems, power quality systems, a substation and an integrated operations center that controls the entire production process, including onshore facilities at a purpose-built port 145 km from the mine.

  • ABB sets new power cable record in New York Harbor

    2012-01-17: ABB has completed the delivery and energization of the world’s first cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) insulated 345 kV AC submarine cable system. Extruded in a single continuous length without factory joints, the new cable system brings 512 megawatts of power generation capacity to the critical wholesale power market in New York City.
