Dear all,
It is with an extremely heavy heart that I write this letter to you.
As you know, ABB in North America today was involved in one of the worst tragedies in its history. A fellow employee opened fire at the St. Louis, Missouri transformer plant killing four, including himself, and injuring five others.
On behalf of the entire North America Executive Committee and ABB employees in North America, I would like to extend our sincerest condolences to the families of all of the victims as well as everyone who was at the plant when the shooting occurred. Our hearts also go out to the family of the employee responsible for this tragedy.
With that in mind, grief counselors are available and will remain so until further notice. The health and peace of mind of those involved in this horrific event is of the utmost importance. We urge you to call these professionals at anytime at 1-800-424-4149.
Additionally, a memorial service is being planned. We will provide specific details regarding a date and time for such a service as soon as they have been finalized.
There are no words to describe what you have experienced or the pain which you are undoubtedly feeling, but I want you to know that all of you are in the thoughts and prayers of everyone at ABB in North America and abroad.
May God give our employees in St. Louis strength and peace in this terrible hour.
Enrique Santacana
Region Manager, North America
